Booking your test, don't get caught out.

DON'T GET CAUGHT OUT BY THE ON LINE SHARKS

There are lots of websites out there just waitng for you to type, "Book a theory test", or "book a driving test" into a search engine, DON'T DO IT !

The site will be very helpful and ask you for all the same details as the DSA and will then get back to you with a valid test time and date in a day or so. They will then charge you between £20 and £40 over and above the cost of the test just to pass your details on to the DSA. Oh yes and in most cases this is non refundable.

So when it is time for you to book your test either ask your instructor if he/she can book it for you, or book it direct with the DSA on the links bellow.

Booking with Directgov guarantees a service that you can trust and will always be cheaper than a third party booking service.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO TAKE WITH YOU TO YOUR TEST ?

THEORY TEST

When you go for your theory test you must take with you,

  • your provisional driving licence,
  • and your booking confirmation letter.

If you do not take these documents with you, you will not be allowed to sit your test and you will loose your test fee, you will also have to wait potentialy another two weeks for a test. So be organised get things ready a few days before your test. Plan to arrive early for your test, there is nothing worse than a last minute dash to find the test centre.

PRACTICAL TEST

When you go for your practical test you must take with you,

  • your provisional driving licence,
  • your theory pass certificate, not always required.
  • and a car with 'L' plates, a rear view mirror for the examiner, a current MOT and appropriate insurance.

If you forget any of the above you will not be allowed sit your driving test, you will lose your test fee and you could have to wait six weeks for another test date. So once again be organised collect everything together a couple of days before your test and avoid that last minute panic.
